Mini-serie: klein maar toch fijn: Teyon

Vaak worden ze in één hoekje gezet, en kijkt men er maar weinig naar om: de kleine uitgeverijen. Kleine uitgeverijen die werknemers en hobbyisten in dienst hebben die hun brood verdienen met het intensief aan de man brengen van hun laatst ontwikelde kleine spelletjes voor diverse eShops. En meestal moeten deze kleine uitgeverij alles boven alles stellen om ook maar hun game onder de aandacht te brengen. Ook deze kleine uitgeverijen, die kwaliteit leveren voor de prijs van een zak snoep, mogen wel eens in het zonnetje worden gezet. Vandaar dat wij enkele uitgeverijen hebben benaderd om een interview af te nemen. De vorige keer was dit BiP Media, nu is Teyon aan de beurt om iets prijs te geven over haar eigen als uitgever van onder andere kleine eShop-titels.

Wat voor een soort uitgeverij is Teyon?

Teyon is both a publisher and developer of video games for Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DSi, PS3/PSN, Xbox 360, PC and mobile devices. Our development houses are based in Kraków and Lódź in Poland and we publish our games in Europe, the Americas and Japan. Our main focus is publishing 3DS games in the Nintendo eShop and also working with publishing partners such as Reef Entertainment, Legacy Games and Mastiff to release some of our bigger projects on PS3, Xbox360 and PC. We also help Japanese developers to bring their games over to Europe and the US.

Hoe is Teyon als uitgeverij ontstaan?

Teyon was formed in 2006 by a group of 5 students who had a passion for playing and creating video games. Before forming the company officially they began creating games back in the year 2000 during high school. What started out as a simple hobby turned into something more and since forming the company they have grown to over 70 gaming personnel and have released over 100 games.

Although we believe all our games are the best, the top 3 would be Bird Mania on Nintendo eShop, Paranormal State on PC/Steam and Rambo: The Video Game (PC/Xbox360/PS3).

Bird Mania is an endless flier where you play as the character Mojo whose goal is to reach sunny Africa and catch up with the rest of the flock. It is a great and challenging pickup and play game that makes you want to continually beat your high score with every new flight. This became a hit on Nintendo eShop reaching the number one spot in the top Nintendo eShop charts.

We also developed Rambo the Video Game which will be released February 21 in Europe on PC, PS3 and Xbox360. We are very pleased with the final product as the team worked extremely hard to perfect the game and create a fun and interactive title that would enhance the overall Rambo experience and make players feel as though they are living the 3 Rambo films.

Paranormal State: Poison Spring is also another title which we are very proud of. It is a hidden object-adventure game and is based on A&E’s reality TV series, Paranormal State. We were able to really highlight that ghostly investigation feel from the series within our game. Paranormal State: Poison Spring was submitted to Steam’s Greenlight and just after a month and a half it was Greenlit. The development team was extremely happy to see it so quickly accepted by Steam users.

We at Teyon like to see ourselves as publishers and developers of diverse games. Within our selection of titles, you will find loads of games from Japanese developers, that would otherwise but inaccessible to European and US gamer’s as well creative puzzles and blood-pumping shooters that we developed ourselves. Kunnen jullie nog iets prijsgeven over aankomende games?

This year we will be publishing more DSi and 3DS titles from Japanese developers to the European and American Nintendo eShops. At the moment the titles scheduled for release in the first half of this year include Cube Tactics and Skater Cat. Our team is also working on porting Governor of Poker, the popular poker game by Youdagames to Nintendo 3DS which will be released in the Nintendo eShop in Europe and the US.  We are also in the final stages of developing Ocean Runner, an endless swimmer which the team behind the hit title, Bird Mania has been working long and hard on!
