Het is nu wel duidelijk dat de Wii echt een groot succes is. Volgens analist Billy Pidgeon zou dit succes wel eens invloed kunnen hebben op de volgende generatie consoles. Zo zouden de prijzen van deze consoles wel eens lager kunnen worden.
Doordat Nintendo de Wii goedkoper kon maken door de goedkope GameCube 1.5-technologie werd deze veel populairder. Microsoft en Sony maakte bij de launch van hun nieuwste consoles allebei grote verliezen door de hoge prijs.
- "I think the results of this cycle will have a strong influence on the next cycle, in that cheaper consoles will be expected. Microsoft and Sony will attain successful business on this generation, but catering to the early adopter hardcore gamers with a technology leader strategy will be difficult in 2011."
