Nintendo heeft laten weten dat de verkoop van Wii’s aan winkels duurder zal worden. Of dit uiteindelijk ook effect gaat hebben op de prijs is nog niet bekend maar die kans is natuurlijk wel vrij groot. Door de slechtere koers van de Pond heeft Nintendo besloten om de Britse prijs van de Wii te verhogen voor de verkoper. Hieronder kun je meer lezen over de verhoging van de verkoopprijs aan de verkopers. Gelukkig blijft de Wii voor ons in Nederland gewoon dezelfde prijs aanhouden! Als je een beetje goed zoekt kun je de Wii hier zelfs al voor zo’n 230 euro vinden!
- "Due to the severe and continuing depreciation of the pound, we are, unfortunately, having to raise our trade price to UK retailers of Wii hardware. The price that they then offer to consumers is, of course, up to the retailers. We are only – reluctantly – raising our trade price now to retailers due to unprecedented and sustained depreciation of the pound. This is a problem brought about by extreme currency fluctuations that are a symptom of the global economic situation. Clearly, we hope that consumers will continue to enjoy the entertainment benefits of Wii. We have made this move reluctantly, and hope that consumers and retailers understand that the reasons are beyond our control. Predicting currency fluctuations is nigh on impossible. However if the pound were to recover and demonstrate signs of remaining at a stronger value in comparison to other currencies for a sustained period, then we would re-examine our prices to trade."
