Een aantal spellen kregen recent vrij lage cijfers. Verschillende ontwikkelaars hebben hier een reactie op gegeven. Ze geven de reviewers de schuld en juist niet hun eigen prestaties. John Lee zei namens Hudson Software (Kororinpa: Marble Mania, Wing Island) het volgende.
"Quite frankly, I come to accept that the hardcore gaming media tends to score casual games lower"
Hij bereidt zich ook alvast voor op lage reviewscores voor Sports Island:
"Ironically, even though the US previews have been pretty positive so far, I don’t think the game will score well, because of the typical complaints of Wii games — graphics, too simple, etc…"

Andere bedrijven zoals Focus 5 (Lair) en Spark Unlimited (Turning Point: Fall of Liberty) beweren dat de reviewers overwegend hardcore gamers zijn, en daarmee buiten de doelgroep vallen.
