Hoe sterk is de Wii U grafisch nu eigenlijk? Van wat we tot nu toe hebben gezien is de Wii U wel wat sterker dan bijvoorbeeld de PS3 maar haalt de console het niet bij PS4 en Xbox One graphics. Toch kan de Wii U meer dan wij denken en dat zal de aankomende Wii U game Project Cars gaan laten zien. Dit liet Slightly Mad Studios creative director Andy Tudor weten. Deze race game moet later dit jaar voor de Wii U verschijnen alsmede voor de PS4 en Xbox One. Slightly Mad Studios kennen we onder andere voor Need for Speed: Shift (1 en 2).
“No, if anything I think it’ll showcase the hidden power that the Wii U has. There’s no equivalent of Project CARS on Wii U, yet we hear the shouts from Nintendo fans loud and clear that they can’t wait to get their hands on this kind of experience so we hope to make them proud with the quality of the visuals.
“Sure there are maybe more stringent technical constraints but the same core experience will remain, plus additional features that take advantage of the controller’s unique second screen and touch interface.”
Als je je enigszins verdiept in de onderliggende hardware kom je snel tot de conclusie dat het verschil tussen Wii U en PS4/XOne niet zo heel bijster groot is.
De Wii U bevindt zich absoluut ‘in the same ballpark’ als de competitie. Het verschil zit ‘em grotendeels in het programmeren voor de hardware, en niet zozeer in de uiteindelijke prestaties.
Iets meer ontopic; Project CARS ziet er tot nu toe flink indrukwekkend uit. ’t Is alleen niet mijn soort game.
